Description
Satellite image showing smoke and ash travelling away from wildfires in Southeastern Australia on the 6th of January 2020. These wildfires caused the deposition of iron rich aerosols into the far South Pacific ocean, which fertilized phytoplankton blooms with a surface area greater than the size of Australia. Image obtained on the 6th of January 2020 by the Himawari-8 Japanese weather satellite.
